Welcome to The Blackbird Review

The Blackbird Review is the literary magazine for students of the Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville, New York. Three times a year we strive to publish a magazine that highlights the best writing and visual art our students produce. Filled with academic and literary writing, photography and fine art, we hope you enjoy this edition of The Blackbird Review!

In Our Current Issue...

In the Fall/Winter 2006 issue our contributors cover a variety of topics! In our essay section, Garrett Simpson discusses beauty in the current works of Greg Maguire, Taryn Smith writes of Salem Massachussett's seafaring past, Sarah Miller looks at love and loss in William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily," RJ Curreri analyzes Oedipus Rex, and Andrew DuBay deconstructs Satan as seen in popular movies and literature. In fiction, we have three stories that swing from fantasy clashes in Pennsylvania, to loss and mourning on Cape Cod, to family upheaval in England. We even have a short play by Katrina Nakao, and the Blackbird Interview this month is with our own Dick Freyer!
